A spring image from last year is featured in Alberta Views April 2025 issue. Very nice having my photography recognized in print. Consider supporting this exceptional Alberta magazine.

I'm Hanging At The Sugar Bowl All November...
‘Cinnamatic’: When Cinnamon Buns and Cinematic Images Combine
The Sugar Bowl has been providing a warm atmosphere and delicious food and drink to Edmonton’s Garneau and University communities since 1943. It’s a full-service bistro and neighborhood pub that’s known for its friendly feel and cinnamon buns that are, frankly, as big your head!
In November, the restaurant will also showcase some of my photography. I’ve called my collection of six image “Cinnamatic” ’— a sweet selection of my favourite Edmonton images. These are photos that I think pair nicely with the neighbourly feel of the bistro and match the local flavours of the city itself.
My thanks to The Sugar Bowl for allowing my work to be in the restaurant for one month. Make a point to pop in.

“Chipper!” As in ‘put me in a wood chipper because I’m dressed up and outside my home before 7 AM in the morning!”
Edmonton Autumn Photography on CBC Radio
On Friday, October 4, 2024, I met CBC Edmonton AM hosts Mark Connolly and Tara McCarthy, and gave a remarkably lucid in-studio interview about autumn photography in the Edmonton area despite it being before 7 AM. In the morning!

'Second Glances' 2024 Media Junket
Near the end of 2023 I concluded that I was not really adequately managing my photography marketing very well.
People generally loved my imagery on social media, but it was drip-drip-drip. I’d never set out to shoot photographs for likes. What I really wanted was my photos to hang on walls or be seen as a collection of work.
In November I’d started on a photobook as a thank you for an artist (and community leader) who had invited me to an after-work meet-up with a number of influential Twitter locals. That thank you book got me looking at my photo work in a different way, as more of thematic collections. One thing lead to another and I self-published that book in December 2023. To support the charity where I work, I profit shared on book sales and started giving interviews to the local media to raise awareness.
Here are some news stories.

Speaking At The St. Albert Photography Club, May 9th
On Wednesday, May 9th I am excited and sort of nervous to be presenting to the St. Albert Photography Club. The club meets meets from 7-9 pm at the St. Albert Inn & Suites (map below). I have summarized my presentation as follows.
For five years, Jeff Day has run more than 9,500 kilometers, mostly outdoors, with a camera in a backpack, capturing images in and around Edmonton. He calls his work ‘Runtography’. It’s a word he coined to legitimize what he’s been doing in his off-hours to make it sound, well, less insane! He will present an overview of some of his favourite imagery, explain his unique image collecting process and answer any questions.
My photography is an unbelievably solitary endeavor, so speaking in public about it is a stretch of my general comfort level, in a good way. I think. I hope...
My Kit
A lot of people were interested in how I do this. So I have included a photo of my kit. This is what I pack around. Excluding the camera...which I needed to take the shot (Pentax K2) and my clothes. My clothes are ridiculous in winter. So many... clothes...but in summer, less ridiculous.
- Phone
- Headphones (music because I run...and music is the gas)
- MEC sling bag. (The best thing ever)
- Sunglasses
- Bank Card
- Camera (Pentax K2)
No water. I have never carried water as it's extra weight.
